BITS Admission Test (BITSAT) 2024 Overview

BITSAT 2024 serves as the entrance examination for Integrated First Degree programs at BITS Pilani's three campuses: Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad. This computer-based test evaluates candidates for various B.E., B.Pharm., and M.Sc. programs. Notably, BITS Pilani offers unique dual degree options and collaborative international programs with universities like RMIT in Melbourne and Iowa State University. These programs are designed to provide students with significant international exposure and education by allowing them to spend part of their degree overseas. Eligibility Criteria for BITSAT-2024

Educational Eligibility:

  • For all programs except B. Pharm.: 12th examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • For B. Pharm.: 12th examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Candidates with PCM may also apply.

Minimum Marks Requirement:

Minimum aggregate of 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology in the 12th examination, with at least 60% marks in each subject.

Eligibility Criteria for BITSAT-2024:

  • Students appearing for the 12th examination in 2024 or passed it in 2023 are eligible.
  • Multiple attempts are considered, with the latest performance being considered.
  • Students who passed the 12th examination in 2022 or earlier are not eligible.
  • Current BITS students are ineligible.

Admission Procedure:

  • Admissions are based on BITSAT-2024 scores and meeting minimum 12th examination marks requirements.
  • Direct admission to board toppers irrespective of BITSAT-2024 score.

Details of BITSAT-2024

BITSAT-2024 is a computer-based online test where candidates answer questions presented on a computer monitor using a keyboard or mouse.

Key features include:

  • Candidates can appear for BITSAT-2024 a maximum of two times.
  • The examination is organized in two sets of dates: BITSAT Session-1 and BITSAT Session-2, with candidates choosing the center, day, and slot of their convenience.
  • Candidates may choose to appear in Session-1 only, Session-2 only, or both.
  • The application fee varies depending on whether the candidate opts to appear once or twice, with additional fees for choosing both sessions or applying for the second session separately.
  • The application fee is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
  • For candidates who appear twice, the higher of the two scores will be considered for admission to BITS Pilani's First Degree programs.

BITSAT-2024 Test Format

The BITSAT-2024 test is conducted in the following format:

  • Duration: 3 hours without a break
  • Parts: Physics, Chemistry, English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning, and Mathematics/Biology (for B.Pharm candidates)
  • Total questions: 130
  • Marking Scheme: +3 for correct answers, -1 for incorrect answers
  • Extra questions: Up to 12 extra questions may be attempted if time permits
  • Syllabus: Based on NCERT syllabus for classes 11th and 12th
  • Language: English only
  • Security: Candidates must bring a hall ticket and personal belongings like mobile phones are not allowed

BITSAT Score Report

After completing the BITSAT test, candidates receive their score report, which includes:

  • Number of total correct answers
  • Number of wrong answers
  • Score obtained

Before logging out of the test window, candidates must enter their scored marks to confirm they have checked their marks.

The candidate can also check their score report on the BITS admission website the day after their test date and take a printout for further reference. The candidate can also take a printout of his or her score report for any further usage.


Merit List for Admission

Key points about the Merit List for Admission are:

  • Candidates must meet the minimum marks requirement in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects of the 12th examination.
  • Submission of Admission Application Forms, along with 12th marks and preferences, is between June 1st and June 28th, 2024.
  • Admission decisions (Iteration 1 results) will be announced on July 3rd, 2024, with details about additional iterations provided later.
  • The merit position of eligible candidates will be based on their BITSAT-2024 scores.
  • Two separate merit lists will be prepared: one for all programs except B.Pharm. and another for the B.Pharm. program.
  • Tie-breaking criteria include considering scores in Mathematics/Biology, Physics, and Chemistry in BITSAT-2024, followed by PCM/PCB total marks in the 12th examination.

Scholarships in BITS Pilani

  • About 30% of students receive financial assistance or scholarships before admissions.
  • For First Degree (FD) students, scholarships range from 15% to 100% of total tuition fee.
  • Under the merit award scheme, the top 1% of students receive 100% tuition fee waiver, while the next top 2% receive 40% waiver.
  • Under the merit-cum-need awards scheme, the top 3% receive 80% waiver, the next top 6% receive 40% waiver, and so on.
  • Scholarships are awarded for one semester only, subject to performance and financial need.
