The IOQM is the first and most critical stage of the Mathematics Olympiad Programme in India. It serves as a unified qualifier, replacing the previous two-stage process (PRMO and RMO). It is jointly conducted by the Mathematics Teachers`' Association (India), IAPT, and HBCSE to select the brightest mathematical minds in the country.
The syllabus focuses on non-routine problem-solving from key areas. Calculus and Statistics are explicitly excluded.
Stage 1: Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM)
The first stage, jointly conducted by MTAI, IAPT, and HBCSE.
Stage 2: Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO)
A 4-hour descriptive (proof-based) exam for IOQM qualifiers.
Stage 3: International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC)
Top INMO performers are invited to a rigorous training camp at HBCSE.
Stage 4: International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO)
A team of 6 students is selected to represent India at the most prestigious math competition.
