PracBee senior teacher, in a conversation with Abhiraj Chauhan, a dedicated student preparing for competitive exams, discussed his study strategies, especially for Olympiads like NSO and INMO which are part of the SOF (Science Olympiad Foundation.) We also discussed the challenges he faced and his future goals. With his teacher's help, Abhiraj shared his experience of handling schoolwork and how Personalized tutoring and support from PracBee was key to his success.
Abhiraj’s journey began when he was in the 8th grade, inspired by the competitive atmosphere among his school peers, especially for SOF. He decided to take these exams seriously after seeing his peers prepare diligently. As he reflected, he said:
_"Looking at my classmates, who were exceptionally competitive, I felt inspired to push myself further. I wanted to do my best, and the personalized guidance I received from my coaching teachers helped a lot."
When asked how he prepared for his exams, Abhiraj said his success came from consistent effort topped by regular revision. For him, subjects like Mathematics required daily practice to build confidence and understanding.
_"For Math, I solved 10 to 20 problems every day. The regular practice makes all the difference. Especially for national level exams like INMO. In future, this consistent practice will remain my strategy for IIT JEE exam as well.
However, he also faced challenges, particularly with Biology, which required more memorization. Unlike Math, which he enjoyed, Biology wasn't as easy for him. It’s a subject more focused on facts and terms, and one needs to remember those for long durations besides understanding the concepts
_"I'm more comfortable with Math. Biology was tougher because I find it hard to memorize things. So I had to make an extra effort there."
When it came to overcoming difficulties and distractions during his preparation for the SOF and NSO, Abhiraj explained that his motivation came from those around him. Watching his classmates do well motivated him to continue. The structured support from coaching teachers helped him approach subjects more systematically.
"PracBee helped me understand how to organize my studies better. I was already studying, but their guidance showed me how to do it more effectively."
He also said that staying focused isn't just about strict strategies. A natural process occurs when you know your goals clearly and you follow a simple routine.
"When you know what you want to achieve, you can motivate yourself. No strict formula exists—you just go with the flow and stay committed.”
Abhiraj credited much of his success to the structured support he received from PracBee. Besides the personalized classes and doubt solving, regular tests, assignments, and progress tracking kept him on track and ensured he was consistent in his preparation.
"The regular tests and assignments helped a lot. Tracking my progress ensured I didn't fall behind and stayed motivated to keep improving."
Looking to the future, Abhiraj is exploring different career options but has one priority. He is especially interested in the engineering and software field. He is keen to dive deeper into areas like Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. This is very suitable for students with a good aptitude and interest in Mathematics. Thus the SOF exams might give him or her an idea of where they stand at the national level compared to their peers against whom they will compete in future for IIT JEE exam and other Engineering entrance exams.
_"I'm still exploring, but it will likely be something related to engineering or software. AI and Data Science are fields that interest me, and I'm checking out different courses."
Abhiraj shared some valuable advice for students preparing for SOF and other competitive exams, particularly for Mathematics and Science, including NSO and INMO:
Mathematics: Practice daily. Consistency is the key to improving speed and understanding. The more problems you solve, the faster your speed becomes, the more familiar you become with various types of questions and better your calculations become.
Science: Physics and Chemistry require both understanding and consistent practice. For Physics, Abhiraj emphasized that repeated explanations and hands-on problem-solving helped him grasp complex concepts and get better at numerical.
"In Physics, some topics were complicated at first, but with repeated explanations, they became familiar and hence easier."
General Advice: Don’t be afraid of making mistakes. Instead, learn from them. According to Abhiraj, fear of subjects like Math is often just in our minds. Mistakes will happen as we try different questions in practice, but they also help us become familiar with various questions and their smart methods to solve.
"It's just in the head—there’s nothing to be afraid of. If you make mistakes, you learn from them."
Abhiraj concluded by stressing the importance of daily practice and consistency. Even small efforts, when added over time, can lead to significant results. Moreover, consistent practice ensures a simple routine remains of practice everyday. Else distractions start creeping in and wasting our time. And consistency was his own key to ensure excellent results in SOF and all other Olympiad exams.
"You must be consistent. Even if you improve by just 0.1% every day, by the end of the year, it will make a significant difference."
Abhiraj's journey shows that good guidance and a positive attitude are important for competitive exams, especially at school level like Olympiads. Consistency also plays a key role. Together, these factors can help students succeed in competitive exams.
His story shows how PracBee’s organized method and Personalized coaching can change a student's study habits. It helps them stay focused and reach their goals.
For students getting ready for exams, the main lesson from Abhiraj's experience is to stay dedicated, practice regularly and maintain a positive attitude. Success isn't about never making mistakes—it's about learning from them and continuing to improve.
