The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released major shifts in the JEE Main 2025 examination schedule. Among the changes, the most significant is the exclusion of alternatives in Section B for all the subjects and the format that requires the candidate to answer every question on the paper. This change eliminates flexibility that was experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic whereby students chose questions of their preference.
As of the JEE Main 2025, Paper 1 – BE/B. Tech, Paper 2A B.Arch, and Paper 2B Planning are going to be conducted in this revised structure. The change should modify the pattern of examination to have all students answering similar questions, which might therefore lead to a more equal comparison of students’ performances. This change may affect learning in the sense that previously the students would cram on selective topics but now they will be required to learn everything.
As before, JEE Main will be held two times a year and the candidate’s performance in the second session will be taken into account in case of admission to JEE Advanced. It gives the candidate a chance to get the score they want in two takes, which I believe reduces the stress that is likely to come from this highly competitive exam.
Students planning to write the JEE Main 2025 should keep checking the official website of the NTA to gain further clarity on the dates of the exam or the registration phase. Since there will be an opening soon for those applying for the first phase of the program, registration should be done promptly.
