In this article and video attached, we are going to cover Binomial Theorem. It talks in detail about the 13 TYPES OF PROBLEMS asked in JEE Main in Binomial Theorem. and strategies to solve them. It is part of PracBee's Revision Program. In this program we are trying to cover whole syllabus of JEE Main in 10 Weeks in a very effective manner. We are also taking mock tests for JEE Main and discussing that live in our classes.

Binomial Theorem is one such Topic in mathematics which is small, but it has multiple applications. We teach 18 types of problems in it but for JEE, the syllabus is restricted and there will be 13 problem types that will be asked in the exam.
So, in order to make your life super simple, we have started this video with weightage of Binomial theorem in JEE and then we systematically go into the syllabus comparison between JEE Main 2024 and JEE Main 2025. This will ensure you have an exact idea of the differences.
Then we will jump into the Mind map of the chapter, so you know which topics and subtopics are covered in Binomial Theorem chapter for IIT JEE - JEE Main and JEE Advanced, and how these are interlinked with each other. That helps you cover the entire Binomial Theorem chapter comprehensively and ensure you do not miss any single subtopic or concept from it.
Since the video has 5-6 questions from each of the 13 types of problems in Straight lines, mostly from Past Year Questions of JEE Main, we are keeping 2 questions per type in the blog. We will add the list of the 13 problem types followed by 2 questions from each type.
We are going to systematically start with the weightage of the topic then go into the subtopics that need to be covered then go into more deeper points of what exactly there is in the syllabus using mind maps and ultimately come on to the 13 problem types that can be asked in Binomial Theorem chapter.
Before we start this video there is a “do” and there is a “don't”. The “do” is do not watch this video like you are watching a movie but keep making notes, keep solving questions, pause the video and see how you can arrive on an answer and develop your approach while solving. The “don't” is that this video is not meant for a fresher student who has not just done Binomial theorem. We will not go into very Basics but yes, I will tell you the concept wherever and whenever it is required.
So, without any further delay let us start with the weightage of Binomial theorem. It is 1 to 2 questions in every JEE Main paper. It may differ from attempt to attempt.
If I look into the syllabus comparison, you can see that there was a major part that is properties of Binomial theorem that was excluded in 2023, and syllabus has remained same in 2025 as well. But JEE has continuously been doing this, that there were questions which could be simplified using properties of binomial theorem. So, it is highly recommendable that you do it.
If I look into the Mind map of this chapter the discussion starts with what is Binomial theorem, what is the general term then term from beginning, from end, midterm, middle term, independent term and rational terms. Then we go into some useful forms of Binomial theorem and the discussion continues where we discuss the greatest coefficient and greatest term idea. Then we move into properties of binomial coefficients and do questions based on that.
Then we move into summation of Series where we discuss three very particular type of methods - one is general term method; another one is use of calculus in solving questions another method is multiplication method for solving questions involving multiplication of binomial coefficients. Then we look into some miscellaneous problems like I plus F category problems that we are also going to discuss in our one short divisibility base problems which are important for JEE Mains and some approximation problems that are generally not asked in JEE Mains.
Then we move towards Multinomial theorem and see some questions of finding coefficients involving more terms in a binomial and those questions can be simplified using the idea of Binomial Theorem, Multinomial theorem and ultimately, we end our discussion with Exponential and logarithmic series and Binomial theorem for negative indices. Now exponential and logarithmic series is one such part that I have seen that most of the time there is one question based on this idea in your JEE Mains in one of the attempts. So, it is not sure that you are going to get it but somebody is going to get in some attempt, so it is better you prepare it.
We then go through all the questions asked in JEE Mains 2024, JEE Mains 2023 and JEE Mains 2022 across all papers and slots. This covers more than 70 questions. Here in this blog we are including 5 questions from each year and rest you can see in the video.
We now move to some concise theory of the chapter Binomial Theorem. It can serve as notes as well as revision tool. These notes are mostly sufficient for you to comprehensively revise the chapter and then proceed on to the questions. After that we will move to the 1 problem types in Binomial Theorem with examples.
We hope you enjoyed this blog as well as the video, in which we went into the details of different kinds of problems that can be formed from Binomial Theorem chapter in JEE Main, and how to solve them.
If you like this video you may also like Pracbee’s unique 1:1 Last Mile Journey program. In this program we sit with the student to understand their preparation till this point of time and based on that in step two we write a customized planner just for you to help you optimize your marks in JEE Mains exam based on whatever preparation you have done. In step three we sit with you 1:1 by a set of faculties aligned by Pracbee and help you implement the customized plan that we wrote for you.
Students have come to us with limited or decent preparation and all have been able to score their marks to a large extent. Asesh using this program was able to improve his fortunes by a lot starting from 95% in J Mains means attempt 1 to getting selected for mechanical in IIT Madras. Ditya over a period of time was able to crack JEE Advance using this program.
