There is an excellent news for students. The CUET or Common University Entrance exam for admission to all undergraduate programs at various central universities will be conducted twice a year from 2023, giving students an additional chance to improve their scores. This step is in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020, which supports additional opportunities for students to improve their scores.

The tests will be conducted after the Class 12 board exams, and the gap between the two sessions will be around 45 days, as per education ministry officials. Question patterns may change each year, but the syllabus will be the same as the class 12 syllabus. Further, as per NTA officials, the deadline for online applications for this year's CUET will be extended.

As per the scheme, the first CUET session will be conducted anytime between the last week of May and the first week of June, and the second session will be conducted from the first or second week of July. This setup will give students a month's time to revise the syllabus.

As online applications for CUET are progressing into the second week, there is a gradual increase in registrations and student queries. NTA is also planning webinars on all subjects to help candidates prepare. Moreover, the agency will also upload videos on YouTube & frequently asked questions and explain to students how to fill out the form.

Why CUET is important?

Central universities offer good BTech courses and also good biology courses. Apart from JEE and NEET, students should also focus on CUET to have a second option ready for them.

The pattern of CUET 2022

As per the notification, CUET Exam Paper is split into 2 parts- Part A and Part B, and a general ability test that is not mandatory. Still, some universities may consider the general ability test as well for entrance exams. The details of the sections are :

  • Part A may have 25 Questions. The subjects tested are General Awareness, English Language, Analytical Skills, and Mathematical Aptitude.
  • Part B may have 75 Questions, which will be domain-specific.

For specific courses like the Integrated Programme or LLB or MBA or other such programs, there is no Part B, but rather Part A consists of 100 MCQs. The Domain-specific section has 27 subjects, and students at max can choose 6 subjects. UGC has announced no new syllabus, so the syllabus is likely to be based on NCERTs.
