PracBee senior teacher, Mr Amit Kumar, has a detailed conversation with Raunak Lumde, student of grade 9 in an IGCSE school in India. They discussed his studying strategies, his routine, his extracurricular activities and how Raunak tracks, monitors and keeps improving his preparation for his IGCSE school exams.
They also discussed the challenges he faces while studying, and his future goals. With the teacher's help, Raunak also shared his experience of handling schoolwork, revision and practice at home and how Personalized 1:1 tutoring for IGCSE and support from PracBee was key to his progress and success.
When it comes to his 1:1 tutoring at Pracbee, Raunak especially likes the fact that he can discuss his doubts at any point of time. The teachers not only help clear his doubts instantly but also help him with any doubts from his school IGCSE curriculum.
The teachers are very friendly and helpful. This ensures that the classes are very enjoyable for Raunak. He can ask doubts, have a detailed discussion, ask for more examples etc without hesitation. Most often teachers at Pracbee try to sync the classes with the topics going on in his school.
Also, Raunak enjoys that Pracbee classes are very regular, there is no cancellations, and after every class he gets homework (practice assignment) for home. He enjoys this kind of a disciplined study with daily improvement, tracking and feedback. He also has school homework but the rigour provided by the 1:1 tutors at Pracbee helps him maintain the learning pace much better.
Raunak believes that there were gaps in his conceptual understanding before joining Pracbee Educations. Though his score in school was still fine, but he felt the need for improving further. His teachers in school could not give sufficient attention to his learning, especially his doubts. Also, he felt directionless at times since he could not approach anyone and discuss academics.
After joining Pracbee he feels his conceptual understanding has improved, he is able to plan further ahead in his studies and feels more confident across his subjects. He believes earlier he used to make silly mistakes while solving questions and even fall for some small conceptual mistakes but he has improved across topics now.
When Pracbee teachers are teaching Raunak 1:1 in a structured manner, using the PPTs of the topics to teach and annotating them as they go, he is able to understand the concepts better and retain for longer. He doesn’t enjoy chalk and whiteboard teaching as much. In fact, Pracbee class video recordings get automatically uploaded and the lecture notes are also uploaded for the students to revise later, which Raunak and other students are able to utilize for faster revision.
The usage of relevant images in the classroom PPTs and illustrations, many of them from real life, help him understand and apply the concepts better. Raunak doesn’t enjoy taking notes during the class, and also it takes time away from understanding during the classroom, so the lecture notes provided by the teachers are very useful for him to revise later and also solve questions. Also, the AI bot of Pracbee provides summary of the classes in a textual format, which helps him revise better and note if anything is missed in the concepts.
The multiple-choice questions (MCQ) in the practice assignments and tests at Pracbee have also helped Raunank become better with his IGCSE school exams as well. Since IGCSE schools also tend to take more questions in their internal exams, especially objective, so Pracbee online live classes and tests are really helping him become better at that.
The analysis provided by Pracbee Platform after every test, such as insights into correct percentage, time taken across questions, strong topics and weak topics etc have helped him identify his weaker points and revise them further.
The study material and practice questions given by Pracbee are also sorted level wise and so he is able to improve with clear hierarchy in his topics. The constant revision, periodic tests and regular doubt clearing have brought his learnings to a high pace and higher level as well.
Raunak is still exploring his future career options. However, he is clear that he will choose one of the entrance exams – IIT JEE or NEET for Engineering or Medical education respectively. Since these are competitive entrance exams, which is slightly different from the IGCSE curriculum and methods in his school, he wants to embrace Foundation preparation to be better equipped for such exams.
His plan was to go for NEET and try to be a doctor, but recently he has started enjoying Physics and Mathematics more, especially compared to Biology. So he is focusing on all four subjects and will decide next year.
Raunak is a big proponent of 1:1 classes as the tutors have enough time for the student to help him with all the doubts and focus on his level and pace of learning. He has enjoyed this at Pracbee, especially considering many of his friends are going to integrated classes which have 30-40 students per class and it becomes tough for them to interact with teachers and ask doubts.
Raunak has therefore really improved in his studies and can see the progress happening regularly in his concepts and conceptual understanding. Thus, he would recommend Pracbee to anyone wanting to improve the foundation in Math and Science, especially IGCSE students.
